Evaluating the Tutoring Session

Tutors can assess their own skills using a self-evaluation instrument. The following questions can help tutors identify areas where they were successful or where additional training is needed.

Here are several sample forms that a paraeducator might use to evaluate a tutoring session:

The teacher may use a similar instrument to assess the tutor's performance. Self-evaluation and teacher evaluation can help identify areas of strength and weakness in order to guide the selection of further training activities for the tutor. Here is a sample of an observation checklist which a teacher might use to evaluate a tutoring session carried out by a paraeducator.
