HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?
We developed the web site as part of a federal grant project at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Although the project is now over, we currently maintain it as a resource for schools. We provide this service at no cost to schools or to the participants at this time. What you will see on the web is the self-study portion of the model. We coupled this with group activities at local schools and with practicum activities that paraeducators carried out with supervising teachers. You are welcome to use the site. It is designed to be a cooperative venture between UNL and a local school. Results are e-mailed to an instructor or mentor provided by the school. This instructor then provides the participants with feedback and monitors their progress. The school is responsible for certifying that participants have completed the activities, if they wish to do so. |
| If you are a paraeducator. . .
The online training program is designed to be carried out in cooperation with a local school or district. If you are working in a school, and that school would like to participate in the program, we can set it up so you can be involved. There is no charge to the school for doing this, but they do need to provide the "instructor". If this does not work for you, you are welcome to use the materials on your own but we do not have the resources to provide feedback or support. |
|
If you represent a school. . . If your school (or schools) would like to become a site for the course, someone at the school who would be willing to serve as the instructor should contact us. We need to get some basic information and we can go from there. |

MISCELLANEOUS QUESTIONS
WHAT DOES IT COST? We provide this service at no cost to schools or to the participants. WILL I GET CERTIFICATION? As we mentioned above, we do not provide certification. It is up to the local school to monitor progress and provide certification if they wish to do so. CAN I GET HARD COPY? We do not have a hard copy available.
